 Application Problems
(on launch or during use)
- Increase application memory (get info on application icon)
- Temporarily move troublesome application's preferences to desktop. (Adobe software is a big offender)
- Disable Sleep settings in Energy Saver control panel
- Check to see if application will launch after extensions are disabled.
- Disable Virex Control Panel, Norton AntiVirus &/or Norton Utilities to verify that they are not the problems
- Check for any corrupt fonts (disable non system fonts first)
- Check for and disable either Adobe Type Reunion, ATM Deluxe, Extensis Menu Fonts or Suitcase Extension.
- Disable Aladdin Magic menu or other auto file compression software
- Turn Virtual Memory OFF (Prior to Mac OS 8, increase/decrease disk cache, turn 32bit address on/off etc)
- Check Resoures in System (eg: CarbonLib, Apple Guide, Applescript) are available and up to date.
- Check for desktop/background printing issues. Hold or Delete any queued print jobs, trash items in Printmonitor folder in System.
- Check for Network connectivity or File Sharing (turn off) issues (for more info see Network issues)
- Try disconnecting the Ethernet connection as some programs may be negotiating a network for some strange reason. (eg: templates on an obsolete or missing server)
- Check for ATI, Nvidia or other graphics driver related issues (monitor resolutions, bit depth, screen sleeping)
- As a last resort, trash the crashing Application preferences, Reinstall & rebuild desktop.
