Check the section: Appleshare, File Sharing or Network TCP/IP Issues first

They can be trival or hard to diagnose. Try these steps in this order.

  • Turn it OFF, restart, Turn in ON again

  • Unmount any USB or Firewire or SCSI Hard drives whilst troubleshooting.

  • Move the File Sharing Folder in the System Folder > Preferences to the Desktop so a new one is created when File Sharing is next enabled.

  • Use Sherlock to search for invisible files called Appleshare PDS, you need to drag into trash within sherlock from each hard drive. Deleting these will force File Sharing to rebuild the privaleges to each shared folder. You may actually lose some privaleges, but most people rarely use them.

  • Reinstall the File Sharing software from an Apple Software Install using the custom install option.
